Asian benchmarks mostly rise after tech stocks lead rally on Wall Street

Asian equity benchmarks rose in early Friday trading as Wall Street rallied, led by strong performance from major technology stocks. The Nikkei 225 climbed 0.6% to 64,622.33, while South Korea's Kospi gained 0.9% and Hong Kong's Hang Seng surged 2.1%.

Why it matters: Other regional indices also moved higher: the Shanghai Composite rose 0.8%, the S&P 500 increased 1.1%, the Dow Jones gained 1.2%, and the Nasdaq closed up 1.4%.
